2019 Peugeot Expert trim and engine updates

Mid-sized Peugeot Expert van gets a revised model range and emissions standard-compliant engines

The Peugeot Expert van has been updated for 2019, with a pair of new trims added to the range, as well as updated diesel engines designed to meet forthcoming new van emissions legislation.

The new models added to the range are the Grip and Asphalt, which are designed to cater for construction and long-distance users respectively. The Expert Grip has a ride height raised by 20mm and a sump guard to protect the underside of the van, while the Grip Control traction control system (as seen on Peugeot's SUV range) offers improved responses in slippery conditions. To help this, the Grip model also gets Mud & Snow tyres.

Practicality inside is boosted by the Moduwork bulkhead that allows long objects to be loaded through to the cabin, while the middle seat also doubles as a table when you fold the seat back.

Moving on to the Expert Asphalt, this model features added luxuries and more safety kit. On the outside, there are 17-inch alloy wheels and body coloured plastic trim, while a head-up display, sat-nav with voice control and a rear camera (as well as front and rear parking sensors) all feature. The Safety Pack adds speed limit recognition and automatic adaptation, lane assist and a tiredness monitor, while the Driver Assist Pack includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and collision warning.

Under the bonnet, the Expert now comes with PSA's latest 1.5 BlueHDi diesel, which replaces the 1.6 BlueHDi. Badged BlueHDi 100, it's more powerful than the engine it replaces by around 5bhp, but it also features emissions control systems that are designed to meet Euro 6.2 emissions legislation ahead of the deadline for vans this September.

The larger 2.0 BlueHDi has also been revised while BlueHDi 120, 150 and 180 versions are still available, the latter now coming with Peugeot's EAT8 8-speed auto in place of the six-speed auto previously offered.

Payloads and cargo volumes are unlikely to be affected by these updates, while the Peugeot Expert is still available in Compact, Standard, Long, Crew Van and Platform Cab variants. Not all engines are available in all body sizes or trims, though, and prices are still to be confirmed for the new trims.
