Unique Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato revealed with 715bhp

The Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato will be limited to just 19 examples and each will be paired with a DB4 GT Zagato continuation model

Aston Martin has revealed images of the new DBS GT Zagato. With just 19 to be built, it’s set to become one of the most exclusive ever collaborations between Aston Martin and the Italian coachbuilder.

The DBS GT takes inspiration from the DB4 GT Zagato, replicating a similar cab-rearward shape and a curved roofline. The roof itself – featuring the iconic Zagato double bubble design – does without any sort of rear window; instead, there’s a rear view camera to allow for a continuous carbon fibre panel without harming the view behind.

Carbon fibre plays a big part in one of the Zagato’s party pieces, too. The front grille is made from 108 separate carbon elements, which sit flush with the bodywork when the car is off. Firing up the engine causes each of the pieces to “flutter” into their open position, to allow cooling for the twin-turbo V12 engine.

That engine is shared with the DBS Superleggera. That means it’s a 5.2-litre unit that will make 715bhp and 900nm of torque – numbers which should be easily enough for a top speed north of 200mph.

But the power, exclusivity and fluttering grille pieces don’t come cheap. Each of the 19 examples produced will be paired with one of 19 DB4 GT Zagato continuations, and together they will cost £6 million. Production for the DBS GT Zagato will begin in 2020, with deliveries of the DB4 taking place this year.
