The British Motor Show is reborn and due to be held in August 2020 at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre

The British Motor Show is to make a comeback in 2020 at a new south of England home. The Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre in Hampshire will host the event from Thursday August 20 to Sunday August 23, 2020.

There will be over 40,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space – including a live stage with celebrity appearances – across five halls. Outside there is a four acre display area, a 13,000 square metre live arena and an almost two-mile long track for adults to test drive some of the latest models on display. For those under 17, supervised driving lessons will be available.

Andy Entwistle has organised major car-related events (including the 2019 London Motor & Tech Show) in the recent past, and as CEO and founder of the new-look British Motor Show for 2020. He will formally launch the exhibition website on November 19, when detailed exhibitor and ticketing details will also be announced.

For now his message to car enthusiasts thinking of visiting the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre next August is: “This is going to be something unlike any other motor show you’ve seen. We’ll be celebrating motoring past, present and future with halls dedicated to all the best that the manufacturers currently have to offer, a peak into the future and of course at some amazing classics.

“We’re creating a great family day out, with loads of dynamic content and launching The Mini Motor Zone, dedicated to kids. We have had such fantastic support from everyone we’ve spoken to and I have a panel of key people from within the industry to help ensure that we shape a show that not only delivers an amazing experience for visitors, but also helps support the automotive industry in the UK.”

Although entry prices and other details have yet to be confirmed, it’s understood that a family of four will pay around £40 to walk through the doors, with individuals paying around £15 when booking in advance. It's hoped that there will be no parking charges with showgoers likely to be asked to use free shuttle buses on the final leg of their journeys to the doors of of the exhibition centre, which sits to the south west of London close to the A3 and M3 motorway.

The British Motor Show last took place at ExCel, London in 2008 and was staged by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders who will not be organising the 2020 version at Farnborough.
