New Isuzu D-Max tipper conversion announced for 2020

Owners and buyers of the Isuzu D-Max Utility Extended Cab pick-up will soon be able to order a tipper truck conversion, the Japanese company has announced. The package replaces the pick-up load area with a new load bed measuring 1,977mm long and 1,800mm wide. The bed is constructed from 18mm-thick interlocking alloy panels, while the sideboards are 300mm high. Isuzu says loads are easy to secure thanks to “heavy-duty underfloor tie points.” At the back, the tailboard opens to 180 degrees and is double-hinged, meaning it can be opened from the top of the bottom. Alternatively, removable corner posts mean it can be removed altogether to make it easy to load goods and materials. image image image image image image image image image image The hydraulic mechanism that lifts the tipper is operated using a lead control. According to the manufacturer, the gear has been reinforced so it can withstand the elements, while a hose burst safety valve prevents the body from falling suddenly. Othe..

Unique Isuzu D-Max GO2 off-roader unveiled

This is the Isuzu D-Max GO2. It’s a unique build project, designed specifically for off-road driving, which was commissioned by Isuzu UK in order to prove the versatility of the pick-up truck’s platform. It’s based on the range-topping D-Max Utah – albeit with an extensive list of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, (similar in form and function to those fitted to the old D-Max AT35 Arctic Trucks), which Isuzu says makes it suitable for the most gruelling off-road expeditions. Styling revisions include an intake snorkel, a roof-mounted LED light-bar, a fresh pair of chequer plate side steps, a heavy-duty winch and a chunky bull-bar, which is designed to push through the undergrowth when driving off-road. There’s another heavy-set bumper at the rear, which has been fitted with an uprated tow-bar. image image image image image image image image image image Isuzu has also upgraded the D-Max’s load bed with a lockable aluminium drawer storage system and a new roller cover. Formula 1 aims for summer return; British GP behind closed doors

Formula 1 CEO Chase Carey says the sport is "increasingly confident" of being able to resume racing in the summer, although it's highly likely that events will initially need to take place behind closed doors with no fans present. F1 is targeting July for a resumption of racing, possibly beginning at the Austrian Grand Prix on its originally scheduled date of the 5th of that month. The French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard, originally scheduled for 28th June, has now been officially cancelled and will not take place in 2020. From early July onwards, the calendar would be segmented by region, with races elsewhere in Europe during the rest of July and August, races in Asia in September and October, races in the Americas from October into November and the season wrapping up in the Middle East in December with events at Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. A total of 15 to 18 events are being targeted for the delayed 2020 season, down from the original record-breaking total of 22. A finalised calenda..

Best small hybrids on sale now

Small hybrid cars aren’t exactly common. We already have lists of the best hybrid cars and best plug-in hybrid cars on sale in the UK today and throughout those breakdowns, a common theme emerges. The vast majority of hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles on sale now are based on larger SUVs and saloon cars, which sit towards the higher end of the market in terms of size and price. From an engineering perspective, this makes sense. The extra space available under the floor and around the rear axle of a large SUV makes it perfectly suited to accepting the extra battery packs and electric motors required for a hybrid powertrain. But, what if you live in a city and simply don’t require the extra ground clearance or practicality? What if your budget can’t stretch to one of these family sized hybrid cars? To help you find the right car, we’ve put together a list of the best small hybrid cars on sale now, all of which offer a refreshing blend of fuel economy and city-friendly dimensions. Most..

‘Do you really want to waste 20 hours a week stuck in traffic?’

No excuses; in recent weeks we’ve all had time to reminisce, reflect, reassess. As we should. Seize the opportunity, I say. Positive distractions help in times of crisis and tragedy – believe me, I know. So recall those gloriously carefree childhood days when you were happily perched – ghastly, sugary, fizzy drink in hand – on the rear seat of the family car. Enjoy reliving the moment you got your first car; remind yourself of the greatest drives of your life and the friends and loved ones you drove them with. Dig out those faded photos – and frame them. Looking forward, what better time than now to assess and provisionally decide what your next vehicle will be powered by? I’d also urge you to think about how much driving you’ll do once ‘normality’ returns, when we’ll all live in a very different world. If you’re one of the millions of commuters who spent the best part of four hours a day driving to and from work, ask yourself if you really want, or need, to waste those 20 hours a w..
